Let's see, I'll break it down into Fire/Air/Earth/Water:
- Just recently, I've finished up a nearly two-year-long D&D 3E campaign for adults called "Stars & Garters," a nearly one-year-long campaign for kids called "Gemlight," and have since begun a smaller campaign for adults called "Doomwarden" and another kid campaign, "The Cauldron & the Flame." Maybe I'll post more about these games soon.
- I recently fell in love with the following video games: Starcraft, Diablo II, Jumpgate, Nerf Arena Blast, Star Control: Time Warp, Maelstrom, and my latest addiction: Moonbase Commander. All of these games press the limits of what my dear partner will handle, so I try not to play them too much.
- I have achieved several items on my Want List! Check out the Fire section to see the updates there!
- I've really gotten passionately into RedHat Linux. I am now a Linux Believer. I'm slowly but surely migrating from Windows Land. I got Samba working as a print and file server for my Windows machines, and our Linux server works better than NT ever did! Yay!
- I got a guitar for my birthday LAST year, and I've been trying to learn how to play here and there. Not so good yet. But I'm trying!
- The one thing I didn't really think I needed, a PDA, is now in my possession. And boy did I need it! I have a Palm Pilot m125, not the best in the world, but not the worst, either. I can't wait to get a 16 MB memory card for it, because my favorite thing to do with it so far is to use Plucker to snatch web-pages off the net and download them to the PDA, and more memory is just what the doctor ordered for that purpose. I've also got all my addresses, to-do's, you know the drill. This thing helps me stay on task bigtime!
- Gaia Consort is my new favorite band, followed up swiftly by Emerald Rose.
- Finally, check out my comic strip, SmileyMan!!!
- I've been writing gaming stuff again. For money! I wrote for Fading Suns for a little while more, About.com has some links to kids & gaming articles I've written and Grey Ghost recently published GM Secrets II that has my "How to GM for Kids" article within. I've just turned in a second draft on Australian aboriginal magic for Dead Magic II for White Wolf.
- I've been learning database design and management and hope to master PHP and SQL soon.
- I'm really enjoying learning about Linux and the tremendous challenge it is to install software on that platform!
- I'm now taking Adderall XR for my ADD. I didn't even realize I had ADD until just recently. Now that I know it, I've been able to really go back in time and take a close look at what has transpired since in light of the ADD. The Adderall has made a tremendous difference in my life!
- I have found/made contact with some old friends:
Gary Nistler
Glenn Lash
Glenn Harper
Elizabeth Jordan
Jae Paul
William Maddox
Beau Barineau
James Lock
and John Bridges.
Coolness!
Now, if I could only find/make contact with:
Kimberly Smith (the lady who was in Man Of La Mancha with me in High School, a lovely blonde Aquarius person with laughing eyes and a mystical soul),
Anthony Powell, (or maybe he's called Tony Powell today) ,
Karen Sotona ,
Stephanie Lemberg ,
Karen Grace Hewitt ,
Michelle Laughran ,
Bert Poston ,
Alice Day ,
Bobby Lewallyn ,
and Scott Whyte !
That would be cool! Note: I've done net searches for these people but haven't found them, and haven't really wanted to pay the various locator services to find them...but if any of them are reading this, send me email! I want to hear how you're doing!
- Just recently, I've abandoned various potential future gaming projects because they've just sat around too long. Check out this updated page for more information.
- Babies are all over my life right now! It seems like everyone I know is having them, has them, or is getting them. Happy Birthday to newborns Rhianna Nixie, Hayden Thomas & Harrison. Hi hi to babies/toddlers/crawlers: Jackson, Maddie, Rowan, and Jacob!
It sure helps, being a young dad, when people need assistance & advice about babies. The more I'm around them, however, the more I realize I'd much rather be a grandparent (in the far, far distant future) than a parent!
A special hug to baby Javielle, who is fictional but who cares? Yay!
- On the downside, I didn't get to swim much, again, this summer. I did go and play in the creek though! That was nice!
- I started feeling very depressed this March and have since corrected it with some medication. I feel much better now.
- Cynthia and I just celebrated our fourth year of having met. We met at Church, and it did take us a little while to get around to our first date. It was very nice to have a sane, slow build-up with her, over time, instead of just jumping into things. Of course, some may think moving in with someone seven months after you met them is moving too fast...but in this age, it's a rather placid pace!
- Fall is on the way. That means birthdays for my Libra baby Rowan and my Scorpio darlings Cynthia & Katie, followed quickly by my Sagittarius baby Genevieve.
- Fall also means it gets chilly and lovely and I can't wait to use our new fireplace!
- I've discovered a love for baking bread...I'm hoping to get more deeply into it.
- I love Quicken. In fact, with Pocket Quicken on my PDA, syncing up with a desktop version, I have been able to keep a better handle on my finances than I have been able to for years.
- Sculpey is a wonderful substance, and over Christmastide last year, I spend a lot of time making little bubbies, little sculptures to give to office mates. I really enjoy playing with sculpey!
- I've also gotten into carving erasers to make rubber stamps. I'm not really good at it yet, and it's a bit expensive to go into, but I like it.
- I love making t-shirts! I've made several with the special iron-on-transfer stuff for bubble jet printers. I hope to make an embroidered shirt soon...I've got some ideas, but haven't actually gone there with it yet.
- I love painting bisque pottery! I have done a cool coffee mug for Cynthia: check here for pictures of it.
